New kid on the block ÉTÄN rum has been awarded a silver award in a prestigious awards ceremony.
The annual London Spirits Competition, which judges spirits according to their quality, value for money and appearance, claims to “single out and shine the spotlight on those spirits brands that consumers really want to buy”.
A spokesperson for the competition said: “To be an award winner, you need to have top quality spirits that offer both the trade and consumer great value for money, and you will need to look good and truly stand out on the shelf and on the back bar.”
Premium golden spiced rum ÉTÄN, which was launched in August 2020, is the creation of five fabulous sisters of Cameroonian heritage, who launched their family brand just eight months ago, during lockdown.
Despite that, the artisan brand has gone from strength to strength – being voted show favourite on TV’s Sunday Brunch and discussions are currently underway to get ÉTÄN on supermarket shelves. The sisters also plan to expand the range to include flavour variants and ready-mixed cocktails in cans.
Co-founding sister Caroline Fosang said: “We think ÉTÄN is as good as it gets and we are over the moon that the London Spirits Competition has recognised us in their annual awards.

ÉTÄN means ‘five’ in Mungaka, a dialect in Bali-Nyonga, Cameroon, the birthplace of the parents of the five London-based Fosang career women sisters who have lovingly created this 43% abv rum, which has been distilled with a unique collection of five botanicals, all native to Cameroon.
They also one day hope to use sugar cane from their family plantation in Cameroon in every bottle of ÉTÄN.
The five botanicals which go into every bottle of ÉTÄN are fevergrass, orange peel, cassia, vanilla and ginger, giving its unique warming taste and golden colour.
